Introduction to the job

ASML is further maturing its risk and control management approach and processes. ASML's size, pivotal role in the semiconductor market and continued growth in combination with increasing threats and regulatory complexity requires a mature and integrated risk management approach. Therefore, ASML works with the 3 Lines of Responsibility (3LoR) model and is organizing integrated risk management in line with leading practice. In the 3LoR model, ASML and its business lines, sectors and countries (first line), are accountable and responsible for managing ASML's key risks and controls supported by ASML’s Risk and Business Assurance (“RBA”) organization (second line) and the Internal Audit organization (third line).

The RBA organization is structured in 5 different building blocks: (i) Sector Facing Teams (ii) Enterprise Facing Team (iii) Risk Expertise Team (iv) Security Expertise Team and (v) Center of Excellence.

The Risk Expertise team ensures uniform risk and control management within ASML and provides the frameworks in which the 1st line should operate. This is organized around (i) internal control (ii) policy management (iii) regulatory risk management, (iv) business continuity and (v) digital identity and access management.

As Internal Control Expert you are part of the Internal Control expertise team within RBA to help guiding ASML’s 1st line with using the internal control principles and to implement the risk and control frameworks within ASML in line with COSO and other international standards.

Role and responsibilities

  • Help maintaining the ASML Internal Control policy, templates and methodology;
  • Help maintaining the ASML Internal Control framework, review and monitor drafted controls against requirements and methodology to ensure consistency and quality;
  • Provide hands-on support and guidance in defining appropriate and well described controls to cover existing risks in cooperation with the business;
  • Help ensure consistent application of the methodology across ASML and the RBA sector facing teams;
  • Collaborate in cross functional and multi-disciplinary teams to maintain oversight in the internal control framework;
  • Become a key user of ASML’s integrated risk management tool to ensure and maintain quality and accuracy of the risk and control framework;
  • Monitor active usage of the integrated risk management tool, including reporting on findings and improvements;
  • Help in setting up a monitoring and testing approach for the ASML Internal Control Framework;
  • Provide training, awareness, best practices and content for risk management curriculum;
  • Deliver quality of products and services;
  • Work closely with relevant stakeholders in order to get prioritized actions closed.

Education and experience

  • Academic degree in Business Economics or related education
  • Preferably multiple years of relevant experience in a multinational environment in or related to the domain of internal control, Sox, process improvement, system implementation, tooling and/or auditing
  • Demonstrated business experience in or related to the domain of internal control
  • Knowledge of the emerging (technology) innovations within industry on internal control
  • Experience in working in a 3 LoR model is a pre.
