As a Senior / Lead Electrical Engineer at ASM, you will play a pioneering role in shaping the future of our world class Silicon Carbide epitaxial reactors. Revolutionary semiconductor innovation:
- Design, implement, maintain and improve electrical instruments, equipment, facilities, components, products and systems used in semiconductor wafer processing equipment
- Direct and coordinate manufacturing, construction, installation, maintenance, support, documentation and testing activities to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, and customer requirements
- Work closely with our software engineers to implement, test and troubleshoot complex automation functions
- Apply sound engineering principles, product specifications and research data to create designs for systems and products for the semiconductor industry maintaining code compliance and product design safety criteria
- Create and release technical components specifications for devices that will be integrated into larger capital equipment
- Integrate lower-level assemblies to obtain a desired system level configuration
Project Management:
- Lead electrical project teams on engineer-to-order toolsets as well as future product lines
- Provide holistic engineering cost estimates to marketing, new system features and product enhancements. This may also require some customer interaction dealing with design revisions and installation requirements
- Work constructively with a diverse group of people including global manufacturing engineering personnel to achieve milestones established on complex internal/external projects
- Evaluate engineering change requests and implement changes as necessary following established procedures and schedules
Customer Interaction:
- Travel the world from time to time to customer sites to assist in installation of retrofits and resolving equipment related problems
- Work to create digital and analog I/O requirements to achieve customer specific configurations
- Represent the electrical engineering team when interfacing with customers where applicable
Minimum requirements:
- Bachelor or Master’s Degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering with at least 10 years of relevant experience in complex machinery equipment
- Experience in design of automation for complex machinery equipment
- Able to create systems that meet safety expectations as determined by electric-related CE directives (Low Voltage, EMC, ROHS)
- Skilled in Manufacturing Requirements Planning (MRP); SPAC Automation and/or Eplan
- Ability to travel up to 25% to customers or other ASM sites
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience in the semiconductor industry, in designing logic circuits, equipment controls, sensors interface, motion control, pneumatics control and systems integration
- Knowledge of SEMI S2, S8, S22 guidelines, VDE, NFPA 79, NFPA 70, and UL508A, the knowledge of IEC 60204-1, IEC 60204-33, IEC 61439
- Knowledge of networking such as EtherCAT, Ethernet, DeviceNet
- A broad knowledge in analysis, design and debug of complex electrical and electronic systems
