The Accounting Manager will co-lead SkyWater’s accounting functions by overseeing and managing the Accounts Payables and Payroll functions, as well the accounting of various other positions and balances, notably accruals and equity. The Accounting Manager will be responsible for ensuring complete and accurate financial information, ensuring team adherence to SkyWater polices, process and controls, and establishing their close calendar and ensuring timely completion of recurring close activities. The Accounting Manager will also oversee process improvements in their areas of responsibility and lead efforts to modernize and transform accounting applications.
Major Areas of Accountability:
- Manage timely monthly financial close activities, including the establishment of the close calendar and coordination of close activities. In this capacity, the Accounting Manager will guide the team to successful complete of close activities and ensure accurate financial reporting through the review of journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and other analyses prepared by the team.
- Manage day-to-day functions of accounts payables, including cash disbursements, cash disbursement forecasting, vendor creation, and bill processing.
- Will manage day-to-day functions of payroll accounting, including payroll journal entries, cash disbursement accounting, reconciliation of financial data, and completing of payroll analytics.
- Manage the day-to-day accounting requirements of other balances and transaction, notably, but not limited to, accrued liabilities and equity .
- Ensure team compliance with SkyWater policies, financial processes and internal controls over financial reporting. Identify opportunities and effectuate improvements to optimize and enhance internal controls over financial reporting and fanatical reporting processes.
- Provide leadership and oversight to of the accounting team focused not only on daily tasks, but the build out and development of a high performing team.
- Build a culture of acceptance and excellence within the accounting team and foster/promote cross-function collaboration and partnership within SkyWater.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting of Finance
- 8+ years of accounting experience, experience with AP and payroll preferred
- Strong business acumen and GAAP knowledge
- High proficiency in the design, implementation and execution of internal controls over financial reporting
- Success in working across functional areas with strong verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills.
- Experience managing multiple projects and individuals.
- Highly motivated with an ability be a self-starter and manage the team’s time effectively and efficiently
- Willingness to dive into the details and assist the team with completing tasks to meet a given deadline
- Proficient at working with positions at all levels, including executives
- Success at building relationships and collaborating with others
- Strong Computer Skills (Microsoft Office, NetSuite, and Smartsheets)
