In fact, you will find our technology in every aspect of modern life: in AI, medical equipment, 5G, smartphones, autonomous driving, and more.
A deeper dive into the role and responsibilities
- Develop fail safe, cost effective designs for systems and lower level sub-assemblies used in semiconductor wafer processing equipment. Design, implement, and improve electrical instruments, equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems.
- Integrate lower level assemblies to obtain a desired system level configuration.
- Adapt digital and analog I/O requirements to achieve customer specific configurations.
- Apply sound engineering principles, product specifications and research data to create designs for systems and products for the semiconductor industry maintaining code compliance and product design safety criteria.
- Direct and coordinate manufacturing, construction, installation, maintenance, support, documentation, and testing activities to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, and customer requirements.
- Create and release technical components specifications for devices that will be integrated into larger capital equipment
- Work under the supervision of the Electrical Engineering Manager; provide relevant and timely project status information to the Project Manager as required; supervise and train project team members.
- Design, implement, maintain, and improve electrical instruments, equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for the semiconductor equipment industry
- Provide technical support for capital orders, expense projects, retrofits and development projects.
- Provide engineering cost estimates to marketing for nonstandard options, new system features and product enhancements. This activity may also require some customer interaction dealing with design revisions and installation requirements.
- Evaluate engineering change requests and implement changes as necessary following established procedures and schedules.
- Travel to customer sites to assist in installation of retrofits and resolving equipment related problems.
Minimum requirements:
- Bachelor or Master’s Degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering with at least 3-5 years of relevant experience in complex machinery equipment
- Experience in design of automation for complex machinery equipment
- Able to create systems that meet safety expectations as determined by electric-related CE directives (Low Voltage, EMC, ROHS)
- Skilled in Manufacturing Requirements Planning (MRP); SPAC Automation and/or Eplan
- Ability to travel up to 25% to customers or other ASM sites
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience in the semiconductor industry, in designing logic circuits, equipment controls, sensors interface, motion control, pneumatics control and systems integration
- Knowledge of SEMI S2, S8, S22 guidelines, VDE, NFPA 79, NFPA 70, and UL508A, the knowledge of IEC 60204-1, IEC 60204-33, IEC 61439
- Knowledge of networking such as EtherCAT, Ethernet, DeviceNet
- A broad knowledge in analysis, design and debug of complex electrical and electronic systems
