Role and responsibilities

As an Architect you are defining, realizing, qualifying, managing and maintaining various electronic concepts and products for both existing and new ASML products. Furthermore, you contribute to defining the next generation of these products in close cooperation with other functional architects and design teams.

The Architect Electronics Sensor Applications is responsible for the following:

  • Define, document and maintain specifications of the electrical architecture of optical sensor modules and light sources and their connectivity to the overall system.
  • Act as the EDEV representative in a multidisciplinary design team.
  • Interact intensively with colleagues from the software, opto-mechanics and mechatronics department.
  • Perform trade-off studies to determine the preferred implementation scenario for new or changed functions. Get agreement with stakeholders.
  • Make work breakdown and planning for the various optical sensors and light sources electronics products, adjusted with other stakeholders.
  • Maintain knowledge and roadmap concerning the sensors, light sources and measurement electronics within the ASML products. Contribute to the multidisciplinary roadmap.
  • Act as a technical coach for other designers.
  • Act as a technical leader and be able to manage the outsourcing of development activities at co-developers.
  • Contribute to analysis and solution of reliability issues (e.g. uptime, quality and diagnostics).
  • Guarantee design quality and compliance by knowledge, experience and usage of reviewing and risk reducing tools.
  • Specify interfaces for analog and/or digital board designs, electrical modules and infrastructure.
  • Transfer knowledge to production- and service-engineers.
  • Contribute to analysis and solution of reliability issues.

Education and experience

Master degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or equivalent.

  • Multiple years of experience in the design of electrical & electronic modules.
  • Experience with sensor modules, optical sensors (photodiodes), CMOS cameras or laser modules in particular, is a plus.
  • Experience with working in multidisciplinary design teams to establish agreement on specifications.
  • Technical knowledge in analog and digital design is a plus.
  • Knowledge of- and experience with: definition and realization of sensor & measurement systems.
  • Broad technical knowledge of electronics with basic knowledge of physics, mechanics, mechatronics and software.

Other information

The sector Development & Engineering (D&E) of ASML is responsible for the specification, design and realization of the products in the ASML portfolio. Within the sector D&E the cluster Electronic Development (EDEV) is responsible for the definition, realization, qualification and integration of electronic functions and modules within these products.

Within EDEV the group Sensors and Light Sources is responsible for the definition, realization, qualification and integration of electronic functions needed for the sensors and Light Sources.

The architect (optical) sensor electronics reports to the Group Manager Sensors and Light Sources.

This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. § 730, et seq.). Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work. Business demands may require ASML to proceed with candidates who are immediately eligible to access controlled technology.
