Introduction to the job

Within ASML, the sector Development & Engineering is responsible for the specification and the design of the ASML products. The Mechatronics Projects department within the Mechatronics & Measurement Systems Cluster is responsible for specification, design, integration and qualification of the mechatronics sub-systems and components which are fitted into ASML end products. The main focus is on nanometer-accuracy positioning of high-speed components for transporting/positioning of wafers and reticles and on adjustments of optical elements. Mechanical and electrical design, control & dynamics engineering (incl. software for the former), thermal engineering and prototyping are part of this department’s main competences. In this department, the group electrical systems and motion control software is responsible for the electrical and software control of products.

Role and responsibilities

In this role you have the opportunity to play a key position as Senior Electrical designer. You will work in a multi-disciplinary project team of highly skilled pragmatic technical experts. You will be responsible for the electrical system requirement specification, architecture, design, implementation, testing and integration of the electrical part of the equipment. Key aspects in complex mechatronic equipment are advanced motion control, accurate measurements, electrical drive systems and electrical infrastructure.

Education and experience

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience

  • A Master or Bachelor degree in electrical engineering. Affinity with software engineering.
  • At least 10-15 years of professional experience with innovative high precision equipment development for the semiconductor manufacturing industry.
  • Profound knowledge of motion control solutions and electrical drive train technology.
  • Experienced with motion software, familiarity with control engineering.
  • Able to steer and supervise detailed design of electrical systems.
  • Proven experience in at least one of the domains industrial automation and high precision mechatronics as senior electrical designer or electrical team lead.
  • Experience with CE, EMC and UL regulations and more specifically with regulations for developing equipment.
  • Experienced to work according to the V-model in defining requirements, test specifications, supervising execution of the tests and reporting the test results.
  • Experience in translating customer needs into technical requirements and then clearly defining the complete electrical needs to project members.
  • Leading solutions when issues are found during implementation, integration & test and discuss the technical issues with specialists from various disciplines.
  • Able to make a work break down and a planning for the electrical team in the project.
  • Experience in coaching of designers or design teams.
  • You are willing to travel up to 10%.
