Introduction to the job

Are you the Product Owner who understands, prioritizes and translate (high-level) performance requirements into a healthy backlog.

As a Product Owner within ASML D&E Machine Conditioning, you can balance between these different requests and inspire teams of engineers with your vision, leadership and focus to do what creates the most value for ASML. 

We are transforming with the SAFE framework as our guide towards more agility and are still in an early Agile phase, still improving on structures, rituals and meetings.

Role and responsibilities

You are inspired by demanding projects in a multidisciplinary context. You excel at filtering incoming requests and prioritize such that the teams deliver on what has the most value for ASML. You will prepare the backlog of your team for the new Program Increments, and ensure that backlog items have acceptance criteria. You will be collaborating together with the Scrum Masters and Chief Product Owner and working with stakeholders from different disciplines. 
You will oversee in 1 - 2 scrum teams in a cluster with similar technical competencies:  

  • Lead the teams in delivery of their commitments comprising of new product introductions, manufacturing improvements, and factory support
  • Maximize value creation by the teams, by getting the priorities right and bring clarity to what is asked
  • Work closely together with stakeholders / customers to align on the work that brings most value.
  • Team up with other (Chief) Product Owners to align on priorities and objectives of the team as well as the team backlog;
  • Slice the work into smaller valuable pieces in close collaboration with the team;
  • Work together with Scrum Masters towards the team in realizing deliverables, risks, dependencies (in- and outside the team) and identify team improvements;
  • Prepare the team backlog for the upcoming iteration and ensure its properly prioritized for the next iteration;
  • Ensures that backlog items have requirements, acceptance criteria and ensures that the team understands them.
  • Ensures focus of the team on PI deliverables and keeps the team from getting distracted
  • Challenges the team in view of the Agile key performance indicators towards greater efficiency
  • Set-up and develop our structures and meetings on managing content (PO-PL sync, PO-SM, Reviews, PI events)
  • Create and maintain long term plan for the (integrated) team deliverables

Education and experience

  • BS or MSc in system engineering, industrial engineering, physics, or equivalent
  • 8+ years of work experience of which at least 3-4 years in a Product Owner role in an scaled Agile (SAFe) and high-tech, multidisciplinary environment
  • Prior experience with hardware deliverables is preferred
  • Capable to apply Agile and Minimum Viable Product (MVP) principles for the business context.

This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. § 730, et seq.). Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work. Business demands may require ASML to proceed with candidates who are immediately eligible to access controlled technology.
