UCT is currently seeking an experienced and talented IT Project Manager to join our team!
Job Summary:
In UCT, the primary purpose of the IT Project Manager role is to lead, oversee and ensure the successful delivery and management of single or multiple projects. The IT Project Manager must do this within scope, to a certain quality, and within time and cost constraints. These factors may be clearly defined or may require dynamic change management to deliver business value.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and motivation to project team members throughout the project life cycle and confer with project staff to outline a work plan.
- Analyze project proposals to determine time frame, funding limitations and appropriate process for accomplishing projects.
- Identify and schedule project deliverables, milestones, and required activities and tasks.
- Implement a project communication plan.
- Establish a work plan and staffing for project activities, iterations, or phases, and arrange for recruitment or assignment of project personnel.
- Perform risk assessment and implement mitigation plans.
- Monitor project activities, ensuring the currency, quality, and integrity of information, while providing consistency in content and “look and feel” across the organization.
- Ensure that project goals are in line with business objectives.
- Ensure that project goals are achieved.
- Assign duties and responsibilities to project personnel and define the scope of their authority.
- Direct and coordinate the activities of project personnel to ensure projects progress on schedule and within budget.
- Review status reports prepared by project personnel and modified schedules or plans as required.
- Establish standards and procedures for project reporting and documentation.
- Benchmark project management performance continuously to identify the potential for improvements and increase capability in project and portfolio management.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to lead and motivate others; ability to empathize and knowledge of personality types.
- Proven experience with project management methodologies (for example, that of the Project Management Institute and/or agile/scrum approaches).
- Sensitivity to working in a political environment and to interacting with senior leadership.
- Expert in project-planning and resource tracking tools (MS Project, SmartSheet, Jira, etc.)
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Expertise in setting and managing customer expectations.
- Distinctive blend of business, IT, financial and communication skills. This blend is vital because this is a highly visible position with substantial impact.
- Master in leading team members in an environment where this role may not directly control resources.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of business needs, with the ability to establish and maintain a high level of customer trust and confidence.
- Excellent understanding of current and emerging technologies, and of how other enterprises are using them to drive digital business.
- Proven experience in the ability to develop and execute a project resource plan that ensures that the right people are in the right place doing the right things at the right time
Educational/Certification Requirement:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, information systems (or a related field), project management or general business management. Alternatively, equivalent IT experience.
- Project manager training and certification desirable.
Experience Requirement:
Work Experience:
- Three or more years of IT experience, with understanding and commitment to business problem solving.
- Five plus years of demonstrated competency in a project management role involving the execution of multiple projects or a large project.
- Experience in leading a team.
- Experience and ability in using “soft skills” or “people skills” to build relationships and ensure collaboration throughout the project lifecycle.

Work Location:
- This position is designated as remote within the United States. The IT Project Manager can work from a home office or other convenient location where internet connectivity permits.
Travel required:
- Some travel is required for this position and will typically consist of six or fewer trips annually either within the United States or internationally for internal meetings with other UCT personnel. The purpose for travel will typically be related to important events in a project lifecycle, such as project initiation and/or project go-live.
