Many years ago, Lam Research embarked on a journey to set up a global center in Bangalore to expand its reach Indian talent pool. Over decade, this center expanded its capability and scope beyond engineering to global manufacturing, supply chain operations and other shared services. One of the major functional groups of this entity is LIGHT (Lam India Global Hardware Technology). In Hardware group, mechanical engineers, simulation analysts, electrical engineers, manufacturing engineers, and engineering support functions work collaboratively to design, develop sub-assemblies and sub-systems for Lam’s next-generation products. LIGHT has completed more than a decade of growth and has emerged as a major new product development and sustaining engineering team for Lam’s global engineering footprint.

There is an opening for the role of Technical Lead Engineer. This position is based out of Bangalore, directly reporting to the leader of Spin Clean Electrical team in WETS (Wet Equipment Technology Solutions) Group of LIGHT. This individual will provide project ownership in developing new product for Spin Clean Product Line

Job Responsibilities

Position will focus on realizing results through

• Design, develop and release product sub-systems through owning high complex projects (e.g., PCBA, Electronics, controllers) and working closely with engineering teams in India and the Product Group in Austria
• Develop functional specifications and system architecture for control and monitoring of electrical/electromechanical systems and power distribution.
• Projects that originate as part of New Product Development (NPD), Continuous Improvement Program (CIP), Non-Standard Requests (NSR) and Cost Reduction
• Collaboration with cross functional teams to develop robust design solutions that ensure functionality (Mech & Elec), safety, manufacturability, serviceability, cost advantage, etc.
• Being accountable for delivering on time with quality as part of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and obtaining necessary approval from stakeholders by following Product Development and Release (PDR) process.
• Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers and New College Graduates

Who We’re Looking For

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s in Electrical & Electronics, Electronics & Instrumentation, Electronics & Communication with minimum 8 years of relevant experience.

  Or

  Master’s in Electrical & Electronics, Electronics & Instrumentation, Electronics & Communication with minimum 7 years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Proficient in concept design and development of electrical and electro-mechanical systems/subsystems and power distribution by following PDR process – generated Engineering Requirement Specification, conducted Design Reviews, performed FMEA, validated designs through Prototyping and Testing and released Engineering Documentation
• Demonstrated strong Problem Solving and Decision-Making ability by applying structured process or tools such as 8Ds, Fishbone, 5 Whys, Pugh matrix, Pareto chart, etc.
• Demonstrated design experience of Electrical/Electronic circuits with interface, operation, and control of peripheral devices (RTDs, thermocouples, electric actuators, stepper motors, heaters, pressure sensors)
• Experience in driving and managing projects in collaboration with CFT (Mechanical, Software, Manufacturing, Supply chain and Product safety) for project deliverables
• Prepare and analyze test plans and procedures and possess hands on experience with various test and measuring equipment like multimeters, function generators, oscilloscopes, analyzers

Desired Skill

• Expertise with capital equipment or similar (for e.g. process industries, medical instrumentation, automotive, aircraft, etc.) industry in a sub-system/module design project
• Knowledgeable in communication control protocols such as: 12C, SPI, UART, RS-232, EtherCAT, etc. and interface/communication with host PC
• Familiarity with safety standards such as IEC 61508

Lam offers a variety of work location models based on the needs of each role. Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories – On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. ‘On-site Flex’ you’ll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. ‘Virtual Flex’ you’ll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.
