Test Automation Engineer (Co-Op)

Job Summary:
We are excited to offer a co-op position for Test Automation with our dynamic R&D team in Ottawa, Canada. This role is critical in developing software and automation processes for next-generation LiDAR products, involving extensive hands-on laboratory work and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and optimize test software to enhance product performance and ensure specification compliance.
- Develop and implement automation software to interact with optical modules and testing instruments.
- Set up and validate optical test systems, instruments, and device functionalities.
- Collaborate with manufacturing facilities to deploy software updates and introduce new processes.
- Engage in problem-solving within the team to address product failures or test system issues.
- Support the deployment of software updates to manufacturing facilities and assist in rolling out new processes.
- Document technical processes and participate in the continuous improvement of testing and calibration procedures.
Education Requirements:
- Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s program in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with object-oriented programming (C#, .NET, Python).
- Strong analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and teamwork capabilities.
- General understanding of source code control tools (Git, Subversion).
- General Knowledge of metrology, sensor technology, or optical systems is a plus.
Work Term Details:
Duration: 8-16 months. Due to the hardware and hands-on nature of this project, we require employees to be onsite.
