The role, at a glance:
The Manufacturing Manager at Biamp’s manufacturing facility in Chester, PA, is responsible for overseeing all production, planning, and service activities. This role encompasses both long-term strategic planning and daily operational management within a fast-paced, lean manufacturing environment. The Manufacturing Manager ensures the safe, efficient, and reliable production of high-quality large venue speaker systems, aligning output with customer demand and budget constraints. This position involves developing and implementing strategies to support capacity growth, workforce expansion, procedural improvements, Lean principles implementation, and technological advancements throughout the facility.
How you'll contribute:
- Lead a workforce of 45+ employees across multiple production teams, supervisors, and shifts, encompassing the entire process from speaker cabinet fabrication to final assembly and testing.
- Act as a motivating leader, inspiring and empowering the team to achieve high performance and foster a positive, collaborative work environment.
- Ensure a healthy and safe work environment in compliance with all regulations and company policies.
- Ensure on-time production of high-quality products to meet customer demand and achieve corporate revenue goals.
- Manage planning and service teams to support production activities within the facility.
- Maintain appropriate staffing levels and develop strong, engaged teams.
- Train, evaluate, coach, and develop employees, supervisors, and team leads to achieve the highest levels of productivity, process control, quality standards, and on-time delivery.
- Lead teams in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance factory efficiency using Lean Six Sigma principles, techniques, and disciplines.
- Align production, planning, and service team goals with the company's vision, purpose, and priorities.
- Develop, execute, and achieve annual production goals and objectives.
- Collaborate with leaders from Operations and other functions across the corporation to achieve company goals and initiatives.
- Meet or exceed KPIs for safety, on-time delivery, cycle time, efficiency, quality, and cost of poor quality in a Lean factory operating multiple shifts.
You'll also support with:
- Collaborating closely with peer leaders in Quality and Manufacturing Engineering to ensure coordinated plans across the site, maintaining customer satisfaction and achieving site and corporate goals.
- Participating as a key member of the Operations Senior Leadership team.
- Ensure the factory maintains the highest standards of organization and 5S cleanliness.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Vice President of Operations.
A successful candidate should have:
- A bachelor’s degree in manufacturing science, engineering or related field, or commensurate industry experience or equivalent
- 10+ years of production management/supervision experience
- Prior experience and/or certification in Lean Six Sigma methodology with demonstrated experience implementing Lean principles and leading effective change management
- Electronic manufacturing experience preferred, Speaker manufacturing experience a plus
- Ability to lead multiple teams across multiple shifts to identify and solve problems
- Focus on data and fact-based structured problem solving
- Ability to develop and engage a diverse team to high levels of achievement
- Demonstrates excellent organizational and interpersonal skills and able to work effectively with people of diverse backgrounds and diffuse challenging situations
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and SharePoint)
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics AX and/or other commercial ERP/MRP systems a plus
- Able to multi-task and remain flexible in a dynamic, high velocity work environment while maintaining strong attention to detail
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Excellent verbal and written skills in English, additional language skills are considered a plus
Work environment:
- This is an onsite position based in Chester, PA.
- This position manages work teams across multiple shifts and as such needs to flex to support employees and teams during off shift hours during evenings and on weekend days
- Ability to lift 10 lbs. frequently and up to 50 lbs. periodically
- Stand or sit for long periods
- Perform tasks (that may be repetitive) that require reaching, pushing, pulling, kneeling, walking, climbing stairs, stooping and/or bending
- Work in an environment that generates OSHA permissible machine noise levels
- Ability to wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) as required in designated areas
- Domestic and international travel up to 10%
