The role, at a glance:
The Receiving Lead acts as the subject matter expert for the receiving responsibilities. The lead will be able to calculate the capacity needs for the shift and recommend work assignments to the supervisor, as well as adjust staffing as needed during the shift to meet the capacity requirements. The lead is responsible for the preparing outgoing transfers by having them packed in appropriately sized cartons and processing the transfer paperwork accordingly. In this role, you will serve as mentor to other receiving clerks by offering guidance and assistance in trouble-shooting difficult questions that require additional research. The Receiving Lead works with the Material Handling Lead to complete additional daily tasks as time allows to meet both teams goals, and guides and completes return processes daily.
How you'll contribute:- Understand daily capacity needs required to meet output goals and sets work assignments accordingly; the Lead is expected to be included in the available receiving capacity.
- Act as a subject matter expert for the end to end receiving, put away, return and transfer processes.
- Manage and respond to department email requests and ensure tracking spreadsheets are updated timely.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols, quality standards and written work. instructions. Advises supervisor of any concerns with team members adherence to these standards.
- Assist with providing training to employees, as well as provide cross-training schedules.
- Recognize opportunities for improvement within the area and encourages the team to engage in Continuous Improvement activities while being the facilitator for the team’s activities.
- Encourage open communication and employee engagement to maintain positive employee morale.
- Ensure all needed equipment is in the area for the employees and the equipment is ready for the following shift each day. Escalates equipment needing repairs.
- Monitor, maintain and communicate all receiving issues and employee related concerns to the supervisor in a timely manner.
- Seek out appropriate support resources when needed to achieve daily target
- Develop and maintain accurate work instructions.
You'll also assist by:- Maintaining good communication with other department leads.
- Ensuring area is organized and neat.
- Assisting Training Coordinators as the area subject matter expert.
- Leading daily pass down meetings with other shifts.
- Solving problems and escalating obstacles where applicable.
- Maintaining stocking levels of receiving and shipping supplies.
- Tracking and maintaining employee equipment trainings to ensure adherence for required certifications.
- Utilizing fact-based decision making and use problem solving methodologies to improve area performance.
- Setting the example for the team in adhering to Biamp behavior expectations and following Process and Quality guidelines.
- Leading and ensuring ESD and 6S discipline throughout assigned work areas
- Other duties as assigned by your Supervisor.
A successful candidate should have:- 3+ years of related experience in a warehouse environment preferred.
- Must be able to work a Monday through Friday from 7:00am to 3:30pm.
- Strong knowledge of receiving processes.
- Working knowledge of and background in Warehouse and Logistics functions a plus.
- Ability to take initiative, be self-directed and demonstrate independent decision-making ability.
- Demonstrate excellent leadership and interpersonal skills and be able to work effectively with all employees.
- Ability to communicate clearly in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Demonstrate excellent organizational and interpersonal skills and be able to work effectively with people of diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to apply reasonable conflict resolution techniques with the team and others within the company.
- Able to multi-task and be flexible in a dynamic work environment while maintaining strong attention to detail.
- Ability to be flexible with work schedules to meet area goals.
- Familiarity with computers and Windows-based applications, including Microsoft Office products.
- Attendance is a critical function of this position.
Work environment: - This is an onsite position based in Tigard, OR.
