The role, at a glance:
Biamp is seeking a Contract Mechanical Designer/Drafter to provide significant expertise using SolidWorks to upgrade our current documentation and act as a professional resource for audio-visual products. The duration of this contract position is expected to last between 5-7 months. It will be a 40 hour per week role based onsite in our Chester, PA office.
How you'll contribute:- Create, correct, and update part and assembly files and drawings in SolidWorks to fully document multiple product lines. This will include multiple configuration variants within primary product lines.
- Source documents include:
- Legacy ERP (Adept, PowerShift, Agile PLM, SolidWork PDM) has partial CAD documentation in AutoCAD and SolidWorks
- Manufacturing Work Instructions
- Final documentation will reside in:
- SolidWorks PDM vault to be uploaded to new Infor ERP
- Build a top-level, configured CAD model in SolidWorks and product configuration build matrix in Excel.
- Take direction from senior Engineering team members.
- Interface with Operations and Manufacturing team members to examine parts and assemblies and verify BOM accuracy.
- Evaluate existing 2D drawings for completeness, adherence to proper drafting standards, and resolve errors.
- As needed, provides technical support to resolve sustaining engineering needs.
- Familiarity with SolidWorks PDM and GD&T is a plus.
A successful candidate should have:
- An associates degree in Drafting or Engineering Technology, Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, or the equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience.
- 3+ years of mechanical engineering, design, or drafting experience with manufactured products in SolidWorks.
- SolidWorks knowledge and experience.
- Experience with PLM (Product Lifecyle Management) system(s).
- Proficient with 3D CAD modeling and 2D drawings required; SolidWorks required.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite.
- Ability to contribute to the improvement of strategic engineering processes.
- Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills in English to drive tasks to completion.
- Attendance is a critical function of this position.
Work environment:
- This is an onsite position based in Chester, PA.
- Routine use of standard office equipment, prolonged periods of sitting or standing.
